The Command Duty Officer will:
Make decisions to safeguard the Academy, its Midshipmen and staff. Carry out any specialist orders or standing orders of the Commandant of Midshipman. Observe all Midshipmen restriction musters, as possible, and makes frequent tours of the entire campus and all dormitories for accountability checks. Ensure that the Midshipmen Command Duty Officer is performing his/her duties in accordance with Commandant's instructions. Maintain a Command Duty Officer logbook and report activities throughout the watch to include any significant incidents or emergencies. This position is perfect for a mid-level professional who is looking for an opportunity to guide, mentor, and instruct college age students in all aspects of regimental and student life at the Company level to ensure an environment beneficial to academic achievement and professional development. The position is part/time, covering open shifts on Thursday evening, Friday evening going through the weekend and holidays as directed. Minimum hours per bi-weekly pay period are 24. To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or specialized experience TO QUALIFY FOR THE GS-09 on Education, you must have:
A Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree A LL.B. or J.D., if related To qualify for the GS-09 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-08, it must include:
Experience maintaining a journal-type log book, conducting accountability checks, making facility security tours, and ensuring buildings are properly secured, making frequent tours of a bank of offices or an entire building. Experience serving as a staff leader of security or equivalent work in a security type function or environment. You can also qualify based on a combination of education and matching experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
