As a Marine Mechanical Engineer(Assistant/Associate Professor), you will:
Be responsible for developing and conducting educational courses and programs within the Department of Marine Engineering at the U.S. Merchant marine Academy. Be responsible for academic counseling of midshipmen, research and scholarly activities, and assuming a share of the departmental and institutional service activities. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated and experienced professional possessing a Master's Degree and a valid (current) 2nd Assistant Engineer's U.S. Coast Guard License, or higher, who is interested in educating the next generation of marine engineers for the U.S. maritime industry. To be qualified for this position, you must meet the education requirements and have experience teaching college level classes in the required field of study. To qualify for a Marine Mechanical Engineer (Assistant or Associate Professor) you must possess a minimum of 1 academic year (5 years for Associate Professor) full time or equivalent experience teaching at a college or university in Marine or Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Sea service as a licensed engineering officer, relevant engineering design experience ashore, or power-plant operator related experience may be substituted for teaching experience on one-to-one basis.
