The Electrician's duties include:
Independently planning, laying out, and carrying out work assignments with minimum supervision.Installation and operation of a variety of electrical systems, circuits, controls and equipment. Planning, layout, and complete installation, modification and repair of various systems, circuits, equipment and controls. Working with building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineer drawings, and the use of formulas basic to the trade to calculate common properties, e.g. voltage, voltage drop and current capability. Using hand tools and a variety of test equipment such as wire cutters and trippers, drills, soldering irons, screwdrivers, test meters, test lamps, voltmeters, ampmeters, wattmeters and ohmmeters. Installing, modifying, repairing, tracing and locating defects, loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment. This position is ideal for a highly motivated, experienced Electrician at the Journeyman level with the skill and abilities to install, maintain, and repair electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools and appliances. Qualifications for the position are based on the training, experience, or other requirements that determine which applicants would be able to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.To qualify for the Wage Grade 10, you must have the ability to perform as an Electrician (at the journey level), the following:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify, trace and locate defects, load and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment. Your application will also be rated on the following job elements:
The ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Knowledge of Materials (electrical equipment). Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Ability to use electrical drawings. Trade Practices (Measurement and Layout). Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Troubleshooting. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Applicants must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. If you do not meet the minimum levels in the ability to do the work OR if you do not meet the minimum level overall, you will be disqualified.
